You Deserve More: How to Stop Settling and Reclaim Your Worth

Have you ever stayed in a mediocre job, a lukewarm relationship, or a stagnant routine simply because it wasn’t “bad enough” to leave? Sometimes, we even trick ourselves into believing that everything is great just the way it is. But no matter how hard we try, we can’t ignore the deep yearning that never seems to go away.

All too often, we limit our own potential—choosing to settle without ever fully understanding why. There are many reasons why we abandon ourselves. Let’s explore a few of the deepest blocks that cause us to settle for less than we deserve.

The Fear of Being Greedy

Have you ever noticed how much society and the validation of your loved ones affect your decisions? This people-pleasing energy and the need to fit in can often sway us to make choices out of fear, instead of from a place of authenticity.

We may tell ourselves that we shouldn’t want a nicer car, a bigger house, or a more loving partner because we should "just be grateful" for what we have. This guilt creates a heavy blockage in our energy, preventing us from fully tapping into our natural intuition.

Desire is not greed; it is expansion. It is your inner compass—your soul—trying to lead you to the life you were meant to live.

The Worthiness Wound

How many times have you felt a sudden wave of excitement in your heart over discovering something new that you really want, only to talk yourself out of it within minutes?

  • You tell yourself you don't deserve that dress because you aren’t “thin enough.”

  • You convince yourself you shouldn't purchase that fancy coffee because you shouldn't spend money on yourself.

  • You stay in a five-year relationship that is going nowhere because you secretly think you will never find anything better.

Subconsciously, you may hold the belief that a bigger life is reserved for “other people,” and that it could never be your reality. This wound is often formed in childhood or early adulthood. Perhaps a parent told us we couldn’t have a treat because we weren’t being good, or our emotions weren’t taken seriously and we were told to "suck it up." Or maybe we were rejected by a first crush, leaving us feeling unwanted and worthless.

A Lack of Imagination

Just as a plant only grows as large as the pot holding it, we can only grow as large as our imagination allows. Many of us grew up experiencing lack—whether that was a lack of finances, food, housing, or even emotional love.

These early environments force us into a state of survival mode, making it incredibly difficult to see a future greater than what we have already experienced. We learn to act out of scarcity and fear, rather than from a place of self-love and wonder.

Have you ever asked yourself “What if?” and immediately jumped to: What if it goes wrong? What if I fail? What if I embarrass myself?

What if you flipped the script? What if you wondered: What if everything works in my favor? What if I am wildly successful? What if I get my happily ever after? If we have only ever seen survival mode, thriving looks like a fantasy.

The Fix: Energetic Realignment

If you recognized yourself in any of these statements, please know that you are not alone. The majority of us face emotional and spiritual blocks that prevent us from living our best lives. The good news is that there are so many tools available to help us realign with our authentic, sovereign selves.

For me, the breakthrough happened when I discovered psychology and spirituality. I took a deep dive into Modern Applied Psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Spirituality. I used these modalities to retrain my brain to think from a place of self-love and positivity, instead of fear and lack.

Unpacking these blocks takes daily, intentional practice. I wholeheartedly believe that realigning our energy is a unified Mind, Body, and Soul practice. It is crucial to remain cognizant of the words we speak to ourselves, the way our bodies hold tension, and how we feel emotionally.
